Why does the Bible say so much about giving? Jesus knew how much we would struggle in the area of our finances. We think it all belongs to us. The reality is everything in the world including those of us who dwell here belongs to the Lord (Psalm 24:1). Why do we tithe? The Word of God helps us understand it is a Lordship issue. Generously giving teaches us to put Christ first in our lives. Each time we tithe, it becomes a reminder that God is in control and meets our every need.

“Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this,” says the LORD Almighty, “and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that there will not be room enough to store it.” This is the only place in Scripture where God tells us to put him to the test. In other words, he’s saying, “Go ahead. I dare you. See if you can out-give me.” – Malachi 3:10

This is the only place where God tells us to test Him. If we trust in God’s goodness, we will trust Him in every area of our life. So step out in faith and test Him and witness what God does in and through your life!
